Business Support
PARTEX OIL AND GAS believes in the commitment to technology as the basis for maintaining a competitive advantage that can ensure the access to both conventional and non-conventional opportunities, as well as the adequate technical assistance to the operating companies.
The Group has pursued a strategy of targeting critical know-how and technologies in the core business areas of the Group. Special focus has been maintained on the optimization of hydrocarbon recovery, reservoir management, field development planning, facilities integrity and efficiency, gas and LNG.
Research and Development
As part of this effort, PARTEX OIL AND GAS has initiated several R&D programmes aimed at the development of specific knowledge and technologies in critical areas of the industry. These programmes are supported and further developed through contacts, partnerships and protocols which the Group has established with technical entities of recognised quality, such as leading technological centres, research institutes and universities. Areas that have been addressed include seismic, reservoir characterisation, compositional simulation, fluid characterisation, geostatistical modelling, geo-mechanics and project of facilities.
Technical Presence
In the countries where PARTEX OIL AND GAS is involved, the Group is giving special attention to the training of nationals, both through the organization of training courses in specialized subjects of relevance to the countries and the cooperation with local education institutes and universities. This is in addition to the day to day cooperation with the national and operating companies, through the participation in specialised audits and technical peer reviews, as well as the execution of studies, using the expertise of the Group, on issues relevant to the operations. It is fundamental to continue strengthening the association of PARTEX OIL AND GAS with key technical initiatives, projects and studies that can foster the technical cooperation of the Group wherever it may be positioned.
Secondment of Staff
As a result of the changing requirements of Middle East governments in the early 1970’s, shareholders were asked to provide technical, organizational and managerial support to the operating companies. To meet these requirements, the Group developed its own structures, which kept evolving with time. We can clearly state that, nowadays, maintaining a good part of its staff seconded to the operations has become a very important element of the presence and involvement of PARTEX OIL AND GAS.
At the end of 2005, the Group had around 30 secondees in operations in Abu Dhabi, Oman and Brazil, in order to provide added value to the operations in areas where know-how and experience gaps have been identified.
It is the objective of the Group to continue and strengthen the presence in the operations in which it is involved, with special emphasis in the core areas of Exploration and Production, Asset Integrity, HSE, Quality Assurance, Production Operations, Information Technology and Engineering Projects.
