The Partex Oil and Gas Group has a long presence in the oil and gas industry, since its start in 1938 by Calouste Gulbenkian to manage his interests in the Middle-East. Nowadays the Group combines its traditional involvement in Abu Dhabi and Oman with a modern approach based on the diversification of operations to other countries such as Kazakhstan, Algeria and Brazil and the reinforcement of core technical and managerial competences in order to cope with the challenging times that lie ahead of us.
During its long history the Partex Oil and Gas Group has consolidated a well deserved reputation of being a reliable and discrete partner, with long-term vision and commitment to the countries where it is present, developing solid and lasting relationships with the national authorities like the Abu Dhabi and Oman Governments and companies such as ADNOC, ADCO, GASCO, PDO and OLNG. Partnership is the key that explains the success of the Group and no relationship can survive in the industry without reliable partners, sound business ethics, confidence and a clear strategy for the future. The Partex Oil and Gas Group has developed partnerships with Exxon Mobil, Shell, BP, TOTAL, Maersk and Oman Oil Company.
In recent years the Group strategy has evolved. Partex was the operator for the initial phase of the Dunga field in Kazakhstan and is undertaking exploration activities in Brazil and Algeria. In Brazil, the Group now has interests in ten blocks, eight onshore and two offshore, in association with Petrobras (and also with British Gas in one of the offshore blocks). The Group is operator in five Potiguar blocks and Petrobras is the operator in the other five blocks. In Algeria the Group is associated with Repsol and Woodside.
The Group is committed to creating the conditions for the successful development of the new ventures in Algeria and Brazil. At the same time Partex Oil and Gas is looking to identify new investment opportunities in the oil and gas business in the areas of exploration, production and transport, in countries where the Group has a competitive advantage.
Great emphasis is placed on the development and consolidation of our existing strategic alliances and to the exploration and development of new ones with governments, national and international oil and gas companies. Partex Oil and Gas Group is by nature reliable and independent. This is part of our history and culture.
The dividends arising from our activity are paid to the Shareholder, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, to be used for the purposes set out in the Founder's will. This means that the revenues are used for the benefit of mankind, in the areas of Art, Science, Education and Charity, including social assistance programmes, medical and cultural activities, the support of education and research projects. This renders our oil and gas activities even more challenging and distinctive and this is an important driver of our staff's motivation and commitment.
