In addition to oil and gas, the Group has made significant investments in renewable energy. Together with two other Portuguese foundations, GDF Suez and a renewable energy fund, it has an interest in Generg SGPS, S.A. a Portuguese company which operates wind-farms, solar generating plants and mini-hydroelectric plants with an output of 480mw. Generg is expanding its production and by 2015 expects to have production of about 750 mw. The Group also has an investment in a Luxembourg mutual fund which, in addition to a holding in Generg, is investing in wind and solar projects in Spain, Italy and France and is looking at other countries in Eastern Europe.
